How to Upgrade or Downgrade Your Plan

How to Upgrade or Downgrade Your Plan

Change your Prospeo plan at any time from the pricing page. Depending on the type of change, it may take effect immediately or at the end of your current billing cycle.

Steps

  1. Go to the Prospeo Pricing Page.
  2. Select Yearly billing or Monthly billing using the toggle at the top.
  3. Under the plan you want, click the button (e.g., "Upgrade to Growth yearly", "Downgrade to Starter monthly").

  1. You'll be redirected to the checkout page. Confirm your payment method and billing details.
  2. Review the Changes and New Price on the right side of the checkout page.
  3. Click Confirm changes.

What Happens When You Upgrade Between Billing Periods?

Upgrade Within the Same Billing Period

(e.g., Growth monthly → Pro monthly, or Growth yearly → Pro yearly)

  • You are charged the full price of the new plan immediately.
  • Your billing cycle resets to today.
  • Any remaining credits carry over and are added to your new plan's credits.

Example: You subscribed to Growth (monthly) on February 1. On February 18, you upgrade to Pro (monthly). You're charged the full Pro monthly price, your billing cycle resets to February 18 (renewals are now on the 18th of each month), and you now have 17,000 credits (2,000 remaining from Growth + 15,000 from Pro).

Upgrade and Switch to Yearly

(e.g., Growth monthly → Pro yearly)

  • You are charged the full yearly price immediately.
  • Your billing cycle resets to today.
  • Remaining credits carry over.
  • You receive all 12 months of new plan credits upfront.

What Happens When You Downgrade Between Billing Periods?

Downgrade on a Monthly Plan

(e.g., Pro monthly → Growth monthly)

  • The downgrade is not immediate. It is scheduled for the end of your current billing cycle.
  • No payment is due today. You are not charged until your next renewal, when the lower plan price takes effect.
  • You keep full access to your current plan and credits until your next renewal date.
  • At renewal, your plan switches to the lower tier and you receive the new plan's credits.
  • Credits do not roll over into the new billing cycle.

Example: You subscribe to Pro (monthly) on March 10. Your billing cycle renews on the 10th of each month. On March 26, you downgrade to Growth. Nothing is charged today. You keep full Pro access and your remaining credits until April 10 (your next renewal date). On April 10, your plan switches to Growth, you're charged the Growth monthly price, and you receive 5,000 fresh credits.

Downgrade on a Yearly Plan

(e.g., Pro yearly → Growth yearly)

  • You are charged the full price of the new yearly plan immediately.
  • Your billing cycle resets to the date of the change (this becomes your new annual renewal date).
  • Remaining credits carry over.
  • You receive all 12 months of new plan credits upfront.

Example: You subscribe to Pro (yearly) on January 15 and receive 180,000 credits upfront. On June 3, with 100,000 credits remaining, you downgrade to Growth (yearly). You're charged the full Growth yearly price, your billing cycle resets to June 3 (your new annual renewal is now June 3 of the following year), and you now have 160,000 credits (100,000 remaining from Pro + 60,000 from Growth yearly) valid for the next 12 months.

💡 Tip: If you want to avoid paying a new yearly price immediately, you can cancel your current yearly plan instead. Your Pro access continues until your original renewal date, and you can subscribe to Growth when it expires. See How to Cancel Your Subscription.

Downgrade and Switch Billing Period

(e.g., Pro yearly → Growth monthly)

  • You are charged the full monthly price immediately.
  • Your billing cycle resets to the date of the change (this becomes your new monthly renewal date).
  • Remaining credits carry over but expire after your first monthly billing cycle — not at your original annual renewal date.
⚠️ Important: Switching from yearly to monthly shortens the lifespan of your carried-over credits. A warning modal will appear before you confirm.

What Happens to Add-On Credits

If you have an active credit add-on:

  • Monthly downgrade (same period): Your add-on remains active until the end of your billing cycle. If you also scheduled an add-on downgrade or cancellation, both changes apply at renewal.
  • Switching billing period (monthly ↔ yearly): Add-on credits are lost immediately. A warning modal will appear before you confirm. Only base plan credits carry forward.

FAQs

I upgraded and was charged full price. Why wasn't it prorated?

Plan upgrades are always charged at full price immediately, and your billing cycle resets to the date of the upgrade.

I downgraded the same day I upgraded. Can I get a refund?

Prospeo does not offer automatic refunds for plan changes because remaining credits are carried over into your new plan. If you haven't used any credits and would like a plan adjustment, contact Prospeo Support for assistance.

I downgraded my monthly plan. Why do I still have access to the higher plan?

Monthly downgrades are scheduled for the end of your billing cycle. You keep full access to your current plan and credits until your next renewal date.

Will I lose my remaining credits when I downgrade?

It depends on your billing period and the type of downgrade.

On a monthly plan downgrade (e.g., Pro monthly → Growth monthly), credits do not roll over — they expire at your next renewal when the downgrade takes effect.

On a yearly plan downgrade (e.g., Pro yearly → Growth yearly), remaining credits carry over into the new plan because the change takes effect immediately and your billing cycle resets. This does not mean credits roll over in general — outside of yearly downgrades, unused credits always expire at the end of each billing cycle.

Can I cancel my plan instead of downgrading?

Yes. Cancellations are scheduled for the end of your billing cycle. Your plan reverts to Free at renewal. You keep access to your current features and credits until then. See How to Cancel Your Subscription.

I switched from yearly to monthly and my credits expired sooner than expected. Why?

When switching from yearly to monthly, any carried-over credits expire after your first monthly billing cycle — not at your original annual renewal date. A warning modal is shown before confirming this change. For more details, see Monthly vs. Annual Billing.
