How to Remove (Downgrade) a Seat
Reduce the number of seats on your plan so you are not billed for them at your next renewal.
Before You Start
If the seat you want to remove/downgrade is currently assigned to a team member, you must remove that member first. See How to Remove a Team Member.
Steps
- On the team admin account, go to Team Subscription and click Change plan.

- On the pricing page, click Update Current Plan under your current plan.

- On the checkout page, click the Minus (-) button underneath Users to reduce the seat count or type in the desired number of users you want on your team plan moving forward.

- Review the changes, warnings and new charges. If everything looks correct, click Confirm Changes.

- A confirmation popup will appear to inform you that you will automatically lose the credits associated with the removed seats (this takes effect immediately). Click Confirm.

What Happens After You Confirm Changes
- Credits: The plan credits for the removed seat(s) are lost immediately. Your total team credit limit is reduced on the spot.
- Billing: You are not charged immediately. The new prices changes and charges will reflect at your next billing renewal.
Example: Your team is on Growth monthly with 2 seats (10,000 total credits). You downgrade from 2 seats to 1 on April 18. Your total credit limit drops from 10,000 to 5,000 immediately — regardless of how many credits the removed seat had used. On your next renewal (e.g., April 30), you are charged for 1 seat only.
FAQs
Do I need to remove the team member before downgrading the seat?
Yes. You must remove the team member from Team Management first. Then downgrade the seat from the checkout page. See How to Remove a Team Member for steps.
When does the billing change take effect?
You are not charged immediately for the new price. The charges for the reduced seat count is reflected on your next billing renewal. For example, if you downgrade from 3 seats to 2 on April 18 and your renewal is April 25, you will only be charged for 2 seats on April 25.
Do I get a refund for the remaining days on the removed seat?
No. The billing adjustment takes effect at your next renewal date. There is no prorated refund for the unused portion of the current billing cycle.
What happens to my team's credits when I downgrade a seat?
Your total team credit limit is reduced immediately by the plan credits that seat contributed. For example, if you're on Growth monthly with 3 seats (15,000 total credits) and downgrade to 2 seats, your credit limit drops from 15,000 to 10,000 on the spot — regardless of how many credits were already used.
Does downgrading a seat automatically remove a team member?
No. Downgrading a seat and removing a team member are two separate actions. Downgrading only reduces the seat count and adjusts billing. You must remove the team member separately under Team Management.
Can I add the seat back later if I need it?
Yes. You can add seats at any time from your Subscription page. The new seat cost and credits will be prorated to the remaining days in your billing cycle. See How to Add Seats to Your Plan for steps.
